Maine, (ME) DNA Testing Law Resource:
According to the Laws of Maine and statute 1561 probability of paternity has to be at least 97% and the required paternity index, however, has to be 30:1. If the court finds that the conclusion of all the experts, as disclosed by the evidence based upon the tests, is that the alleged father is not the parent of the child, the question of paternity must be resolved accordingly. If the experts disagree in their findings or conclusions, the question must be submitted upon all the evidence. If the experts conclude that the blood or tissue tests show that the alleged father is not excluded and that the probability of the alleged father's paternity is less than 97%, this evidence must be admitted by the court and weighed with other competent evidence of paternity.
